Phenyl-coinage metal (Ag, Au) complexes: an anion photoelectron spectroscopy and density functional study.

چکیده
The important intermediate phenyl-coinage metal complexes (Ag(m)C6H5(-), Au(m)C6H5(-)), which are produced from the reactions between coinage metal clusters formed by laser ablation and the benzene molecules seeded in argon carrier gas, are studied by PES (photoelectron spectroscopy) and DFT (density functional theory). The EAs (adiabatic electron affinities) of these complexes are obtained from PES at both 308 and 193 nm photon energies and show odd-even alternation. Calculations with DFT are carried out on the structural and electronic properties of Ag(m)C6H5(-) and Au(m)C6H5(-); the adiabatic detachment energy and the calculated DOS (density of states) for the ground state of a given anion are in good agreement with the experimental PES results. The observed spectra are also compared with those of the pure coinage metal clusters, which reveal that there are some similarities between them and the phenyl acts like an additional metal atom in the clusters. Furthermore, the bonding between phenyl and metal is analyzed, suggesting that phenyl group binds perpendicularly on metal clusters through C-M sigma bond.

The Effect of Coinage Transition Metal (Cu, Ag, Au) Substitutions on Two-electron Redox Potential of Quinones
Quinones are a class of compounds which have widespread importance in chemistry, biology and medicine. Because of their appropriate performance in electron transferring rate, quinones are among the most applicable mediators in biosensors. Recently, the effects of different non-metal substitutions on redox potential of quinone have been investigated to design suitable mediators for different ele...
متن کاملPb(m)-Phenyl (m = 1-5) complexes: an anion photoelectron spectroscopy and density functional study.
The phenyl-lead metal complexes ([Pb(m)C6H5]-) produced from the reactions between benzene and lead clusters formed by laser ablation on a lead solid sample are studied by photoelectron spectroscopy (PES) and density functional theory (DFT). The adiabatic electron affinities (EAs) of [Pb(m)C6H5]- are obtained from PES at 308 nm, and the differences between the PES of [Pb(m)C6H5]- and the PES of...
متن کاملSpectroscopic observation of photo-induced metastable linkage isomers of coinage metal (Cu, Ag, Au) sulfur dioxide complexes.
Coinage metal atom (Cu, Ag, Au) reactions with SO2 were investigated by matrix isolation infrared absorption spectroscopy and density functional theory electronic structure calculations. Both mononuclear complexes M(η(1)-SO2) (M = Ag, Au) and M(η(2)-O2S) (M = Ag, Cu) were observed during condensation in solid argon or neon. Interestingly, the silver containing mononuclear complexes are intercon...

Treatment of terminal phosphide anion [PNb(N[Np]Ar)3] ([Na(OEt2)] + salt, Ar 1⁄4 3,5-Me2C6H3) with two diphenylketene equivalents led to isolation of anion [P(C{CPh2}O)2Nb(N[Np]Ar)3] in 78% yield as its [Na(THF)] salt. The latter reacts with diphenylketene (1 equiv) to provide the triple diphenylketene addition product [P(C{CPh2}O)3Nb(N[Np]Ar)3] in 88% yield as its [Na(THF)] salt; the same mate...
متن کاملN-Heterocyclic Carbene Coinage Metal Complexes of the Germanium-Rich Metalloid Clusters [Ge9R3]- and [Ge9RI2]2- with R = Si(iPr)3 and RI = Si(TMS)3
We report on the synthesis of novel coinage metal NHC (N-heterocyclic carbene) compounds of the germanium-rich metalloid clusters [Ge9R3] and [Ge9R2] with R = Si(Pr)3 and RI = Si(TMS)3. NHCCu{η-Ge9R3} with R = Si(Pr)3 (1) represents a less bulky silyl group-substituted derivative of the known analogous compounds with R = Si(Bu)3 or Si(TMS)3. The coordination of the [NHCDippCu]+ moiety to the cl...
